At SOLS Foundation, we’re working to fix exactly that, and we need someone to find these youth so we can help them together.

We’re looking for a candidate who will expand our current reach in a sustainable manner, by building long term relationships and/or recruiting participants from various stakeholders: individuals and communities of beneficiaries, local authorities, educational institutions, potential employers, and government bodies.

The Community Relationship Officer will increase the number of beneficiaries joining and completing our education and employment programmes.

What do I need?

  • Minimum 2 years of work experience working with nonprofits.
  • Proven communication and networking skills tailored to different stakeholders, from corporate and government partners, to chiefs of village and community residents.
  • Having an existing community and social work network is an advantage.
  • Must be comfortable cold calling, reaching out, initiating conversations and persistently following up.
  • Interaction and working with the B40 communities and/or Orang Asli communities.
  • Experience in event management is an advantage.
  • Must have strong proficiency (oral and written) both in Bahasa Malaysia and in English.
  • Requires driver licence.
  • Must have the ability to work in person from our head office.
  • Must have the ability and independence to travel, alone or in a team, for impact programmes into B40 communities around Malaysia, including rural and Orang Asli communities, and to different programme delivery venues.
  • Strong interpersonal and community skills, a positive and enthusiastic attitude, and a commitment to contribute to a positive work environment with collaborative relationships.

What will I do?

  • Participant Recruitment: Work with each SOLS programme team to develop and implement strategies to identify and recruit B40 participants.
  • Community Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with community leaders, organisations, and residents. Conduct needs assessments within communities to tailor education programmes to specific needs.
  • Partnership Development: Identify and approach colleges, orphanages, social housing areas, and other institutions, and identify potential employers for collaboration. Negotiate and establish partnerships that support our mission and enhance programme offerings.
  • Event Planning: Coordinate and organise, participate, and innovate in outreach programmes, information sessions, and events to promote education opportunities, leading towards sustainable results.
  • Communication and Outreach: Develop and disseminate, via the most effective channels, promotional materials to increase visibility and attract potential students.
  • Data Management: Maintain accurate records and generate reports of community and partner contacts, student recruitment efforts, community engagement activities, and partnership initiatives.
